Marco Schmidt

Marco Schmidt is a landscape architect and environmental planner. Since 1992 he has been teaching and conducting research activities on developing the necessary skills and best practice in ecological, energy efficient construction at the Technical University of Berlin. Since 2016 Marco has also been employed at the Federal Institute for Research on Building, Urban Affairs and Spatial Development (BBSR).


Marco has focused on the evaluation of buildings for their energy consumption for cooling, rainwater harvesting, green roofs and green facades, the urban heat island effect and climate change mitigation and adaptation strategies which focus on evaporative cooling. Since 2009 he has conducted evaluations of complex building sites such as hospitals, laboratory buildings and has been a consultant for various construction sites.


Marco is also specialised in electronic acquisition and processing of environmental data.
